Camino_de_Santiago

Our beautiful day in Santiago! We were in the square to welcome all our Camino friends that were arriving today. These are our beautiful friends we have met along the way…so special to be able to share this wonderful moment! We also saw Lynn and Kevin from Maine! Today we toured the cathedral and walked into the sanctuary where you can hug the statue of Saint James. It was beautiful and very emotional. a few of us went to lunch where Sandra and Aurelia presented me with this lovely gift. 💝 I lit a candle at the cathedral in honor of Julia. Here is a picture of my Compestella, my name is in Latin. And I also got one for Julia ❤️ After dinner we spent time visiting with Deb, Sandra and Aurelia. It was difficult to say goodbye but I know that someday we will all see each other again. A picture of me at the cathedral. Tomorrow we make our way by train to Madrid and then fly home on Monday. It has been the most memorable trip. Buen Camino!

We have arrived in Santiago de Compestella ! Words cannot describe the feeling and excitement we feel. It was a lovely walk today and I tried to savor every moment. We left very early as our goal was to make it to Santiago by noon which we did. It was 8 km before we found our first coffee but it turned out to be a great stop and the church had a great place for me to lay some ashes. We had beautiful trails along eucalyptus forests . We stopped at the chapel in Monte de Gozo and then took the detour off the Camino in order to see the pilgrims statue and the plaques that commemorate Pope John Paul ’s visit. I layed some ashes at this beautiful cross. The plaques in honor of the pope’s visit. We arrived at the pilgrims statue that are pointing to Santiago. Here I laid a rock I carried the entire way to pray for my grandchildren and a hope for their future. The stone says hope and I painted their initials on it. I also laid some of Julia’s ashes as I know she is also so proud of them ...
