1st Rest day- much needed time for recovery and recharging the body and soul.
We took our time this morning leaving the albergue and walked a short distance to a lovely cafe for breakfast and our daily ritual of Cafe con leche- actually Amy had two cups!
The knee feels good, so I am grateful to rest it one more day!
Sculpture of a knight in the plaza del Mercado.

After breakfast we went to mass at the Cathedral de Santa M de la Redonda. It’s interesting how my muscle memory has helped me to follow along in the Spanish mass as I just say the prayers in English.
Archway in the church for pilgrims to walk under.
Wall paintings in Najera Spain.
We met up with Doug and Elena from Ontario Canada, we have seen them every day!!!

Today in Rochester New York my niece Katie ran a 5 K in support of colon cancer. She ran 5 k in just 34:20, then her two children ran a kids fun run. They all did this in honor of my daughter Julia!! We are all raising awareness for early detection as well as research and prevention.

We are doing a pilgrims dinner of olives , bread, wine and figs!
On our way to Santo Domingo tomorrow!
