Day 10 Nájera to Santo Domingo. 14.3 miles and 33,000 steps!

We left Nájera early and were treated to the most beautiful sunrise at about the 3 km mark. Just absolutely breathtaking! ( if you look closely there is a cross atop the mountain).

Today’s walk was very soothing as we walked through rolling hills of hay fields and vineyards. We started out without coffee and it wasn’t until the 6 km mark that we finally entered the town of Azofra where we stopped and had the most amazing cafe con leche and split a tortilla.

The next 8 km were mostly up and down, at the top of one very long climb there was a beautiful park with tables and a water fountain (Camino magic) as we were getting low on aqua.

Next we entered the town of Ciruena where we came upon a beautiful golf course. We stopped and had a cold beverage and some olives along with fresh figs we bought the night before!

Random kitty cats that I thought were cute 🥰.

As we approached Santo Domingo you came to a crest on the hill and you could see the town, however it is still so far away!!!

Along the way down was a little park with a sculpture that celebrated bridge building. We stopped for a short rest then continued on to our alburge.

We finally arrived at the alburge around 2:45 , showered and then met Sandra (Ireland) and Aurelia ( California) for dinner in the plaza.

Tomorrow we are on our way to Belorado!

Buen Camino
