Day 15- Burgos to Hornillos (13.5 miles, 28,000 steps)

We left early this morning and were treated with this lovely sunrise on the outskirts of Burgos. Shortly thereafter it started to rain but only briefly and just enough to bless us with a rainbow!

We continued on to the small town of Rabe which is actually where we are staying tonight but we will continue to walk 7 km more and take a taxi back to our hostel. As we were leaving Rabé we spotted a small church so decided to go inside. So glad we did, inside this tiny little church there were 2 nuns handing out “miraculous medals” and giving all peregrinos a lovely blessing, it truly was a touching moment.

I didn’t get a picture but one of the nuns was taking photos. She gave me a piece of paper with pilgrim prayers and their facebook page. She also told us they were from Carron and that we need to visit them there( which we were planning to do). I will check later and see if she posts a picture of me. I was in tears so I think she was touched by that.

More pictures I took along the way today. We are seeing so many beautiful murals on homes and businesses.

Church in Tardajos

It is very hot out here with no shade. We are walking what is known as the meseta and will be in this region for at least the next 7 days.

Only 476 km to Santiago!! We just realized that we will be at the halfway mark on Julia’s birthday ❤️

Buen Camino!
