Day 16 Hornillos to Castrojeriz 12 miles (24,000 steps)
This was our table set for us this morning for breakfast, several pastries and 6 pieces of fruit! in addition they brought us cafe con leche, fresh orange juice, toast, yogurt and sliced ham and cheese. It was a feast and we took most of it with us for supper tonight and breakfast tomorrow. We were spoiled and I highly recommend this hostel in Rabé- I will give them a great review.
Today’s walk was relatively easy, mostly flat with a few up and downs.

A lot of crosses and a lovely monument.

Welcome to Hontanas, our first stop almost 11 km in but it was a lovely walk.
(ps: Not drinking from this fountain lol).

Stopped by the convent ruins of San Anton. These are beautiful gothic ruins of a convent and has now been converted to an albergue.

We can see our destination for today in the distance. On the top of the hill is the castle of Castrojeriz. We will enjoy the view from here and not venture up there.
Our alburge is right next door to the cathedral. I went over and discovered there is a mass at 7pm. If we are still awake we will attend. We did however take advantage of a tour and it was incredible, what a beautiful cathedral. I sat for a few moments and said my rosary, it has come in handy(thank you Tina and Sharon).

What a beautiful end to our lovely day.
Tomorrow we are on to Frómista.
Buen Camino!
PS
we did go to mass , it was amazing!
