Day 19 - Carrion to Marotinos: 20 miles (48,000 steps) PHEW🤪
Today is Julia’s birthday and we have passed the halfway mark!! We have walked 398 km so far and passed this sign just outside the town we are sleeping in tonight. Apparently there is a city we walk through tomorrow where we can get a halfway certificate.

We left very early today but were still able to enjoy a few beautiful sculptures on our way out of Carrion. It was only 45 degrees so we were bundled up, headlamps were needed for our first two hours. I couldn’t resist stopping and Shutting my light so I could see the beautiful night sky once we were away from the city lights. Just gorgeous!
Sunrise this morning.

We were told to be prepared for no service for the first 17 km so we packed sandwiches and plenty of water. But much to our delight there were actually 2 food trucks with cafe con leche and tortillas. So now we are at our alburge and will eat our sandwiches for dinner.
side bar- A woman from Ireland just shared a fashion magazine for us to read tonight, there is an article on how to get better sleep which we both need!

Okay moving on to our day.
this lovely proclamation was at the second food truck and we found it to be so profound. If you can zoom in and read the words, it clearly spells out what the Camino means to so many of us that are out here.

The knights Templar statue in Terradillos!

There were limited signs along the trail today and we almost got lost if not for My ultimate guide and companion Amy!! but here are a few of our signs we found😀!
More Gatos 🐈⬛ I can’t resist!

Entering our small village for the night these are ancient hillside hobbit holes, specially built to store large barrels of wine, our host at the alburge informed us that they have not been used for over 400 years as the region now relies on sunflower crops rather than vineyards.😥
more wine please lol🍷
Tomorrow we walk to Bercianos!
Buen Camino!!
Thinking of you and much love coming your way!!! ❤️❤️
