Day 4- Pamplona

A beautiful walk today and much easier, we ended up with 13 miles and only 26000 steps( so far) as we will be meeting friends later for wine and Pintxos. After our long day yesterday we decided to forward our heavy things in a bag to lighten our packs. It was wonderful!!

Although our alburge fed us breakfast, at about the 5 km mark we met up with Christine from Wisconsin and Peter from Sweden to enjoy a shared plate of zucchini tortillas and a cafe con leche. On the Camino this is considered “ second breakfast “. We loved it!

We have arrived in France

We have arrived in St Jean Pied de Port, France! What a long 28 hours of travel with very little sleep…. 3 hour drive to Boston Logan airport. 6 hour flight from Boston to Madrid. 1/2 hour taxi ride to Madrid Train station. 2 hour wait for our train. 1 and 1/2 hour train ride to Zaragoza with only a few minutes to run ( or in our case walking very fast) to our connecting, only to get there and find it is delayed …phew! Next up a 2 hour train ride to Pamplona. Lastly an hour and a half taxi ride from Pamplona Spain to St Jean France… it was amazing as our driver kept pointing out the trail as we past it … “Look, El Camino!”🤣 We settled in our room, showered and washed our clothes then went to dinner and found some interesting wine to drink together. All in all we are tired but very excited for our hike to start on Friday. Our first comino family we met at the airport in Boston, they are from Biddeford Maine!!
