Travel day

Amy arrived in Maine on Saturday, the first thing she said to me was “are we really doing this?”🤣

We spent our 2 days making final preparations and packing our backpacks, this kept us busy but we did manage to see a lot of family before we left.

Thank you to everyone who have donated to our cause (link in past post).I am overwhelmed with the generosity and for all the words of encouragement.

The beautiful quilt Amy made for me using several of Julia’s tshirts.

Becky and Amy leave on September 2, 2025 to embark on a pilgrimage, backpacking across Spain on the Camino De Santiago, also known as "The way of Saint James". This has been a bucket list item for Becky for several years.. The camino is a pilgrims journey to the Cathedral in Santiago where one can   visit the shrine believed to hold the remains of the apostle  Saint James .   The Camino is popular for its historical and spiritual significance, attracting both religious pilgrims and those seeking personal reflection or a physical challenge.   We invite you to follow our journey as we walk over 800 Km in less  than 6 weeks.  In the meantime, we are busy getting our bodies (and Feet) conditioned  to walk an average of 15 miles per day.   Stay tuned for more posts and Buen Camino!

We have arrived in France

We have arrived in St Jean Pied de Port, France! What a long 28 hours of travel with very little sleep…. 3 hour drive to Boston Logan airport. 6 hour flight from Boston to Madrid. 1/2 hour taxi ride to Madrid Train station. 2 hour wait for our train. 1 and 1/2 hour train ride to Zaragoza with only a few minutes to run ( or in our case walking very fast) to our connecting, only to get there and find it is delayed …phew! Next up a 2 hour train ride to Pamplona. Lastly an hour and a half taxi ride from Pamplona Spain to St Jean France… it was amazing as our driver kept pointing out the trail as we past it … “Look, El Camino!”🤣 We settled in our room, showered and washed our clothes then went to dinner and found some interesting wine to drink together. All in all we are tired but very excited for our hike to start on Friday. Our first comino family we met at the airport in Boston, they are from Biddeford Maine!!
