Day 34 Palas de Rei to Ribadiso 18 miles (40,000 steps)

We are truly enjoying this region of Spain, even with the increased traffic we are meeting new people and we kind of chuckle to ourselves as we pass these new pilgrims on the hills as they are not as conditioned as we are. We are experiencing different foods and wines as well. Galicia is a beautiful region of Spain.

Side note: Not sure if I have fully explained why there is more traffic on the Camino. In order to receive the Compestella, (the certificate of completion)on the Camino Frances you have to have walked at least the last 100 km, typically from Sarria to Santiago. Hence why there are so many pilgrims now.

We left early again today with our headlamps and the full moon to guide us. It was quite overcast all day and we really never had much sunshine which made the long walk more bearable.

We came across this little church where we could get a stamp, this week we are required to get at least 2 stamps per day, so far it’s been easy to do. While Amy was getting her stamp I went out behind the church and found a small cemetery. I saw a beautiful bouquet of red roses which reminded me of Julia’s rose bush at her house in Baltimore so I thought that would be a great place to lay some of her ashes. (Which of course I did)

Then I looked up at the head stone and saw this!

I couldn’t believe I was drawn to this one grave!! Just an amazing day!

Once again we were treated to some beautiful scenery and lovely trails.

We keep seeing these buildings on farms and have decided it’s where they store the vegetables from the harvest.

Awesome foundation and statues.

I thought this spider web was cool. It’s amazing what you see when you travel at the speed of walking.more churches, the first one is dedicated to Mary as it is believed that she appeared on this spot in the 12 th century and was combing her hair.

We are under the 50 km mark!

only 2 days to Santiago, Buen Comino!
